Noel, Noel?

Noel, Noel, Noel, No Well? No Well?

Tis the season of the frozen morning and afternoon water bucket. Tis also the season of the frozen outside water faucet.

No electricity or plumbing in the barns means hauling hot/warm water from the bathtub out to the animals and chickens two times a day. Can’t wait for Spring.

  1. Rich hooked up a pipe to the hot water in the house to outside so I can use it from outside the much handier & cleaner than trying to lug it through the house

Ouch, been there and done that last year! Only, our well totally failed so we had to melt snow and ice, then haul it. I’m all for spring….soon.

I don’t know how you do it without water and electricity out there. You certainly have my sympathy.

Yup. I’m a hot-water-from-the-tub kind’a gal in the winter also. Even if the water doesn’t freeze over, I know the goats drink a LOT more if the water is warm. Not that I blame them, but putting warm water out there twice (or more) a day gets really old, really fast.

  5. Oh gosh, that’s a lot of work! Hopefully the winter will be mild and spring will come fast!

  6. I ran in to a new product at our local farm store. It is a heated water hose supposedly good to -40. Might be worth looking into.
